Welcome Message from the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Fellowship Program Director
Welcome to the Adult Congenital Heart Disease fellowship program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center! We understood early the need for comprehensive care of these unique patients, particularly in a state that has been historically underserved. With a training program founded in the inceptive accreditation year and staffed by physicians who passed the first ACHD board exam, we are proud to have been here from the start. We have cultivated an extensive toolbox that allows us to provide comprehensive care to the entire state and surrounding areas. With subspecialists in congenital cardiac intervention, imaging, electrophysiology, congenital heart surgery, advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation, it all happens here. Our attachment with the state’s only pediatric hospital allows both natural patient transition and extensive collaboration between adult and pediatric faculty and trainees.
Philanthropy is important to us. From local, patient-centered events to nationwide advocacy through organizations such as the Adult Congenital Heart Association, we support our patients—and have a good time doing it. Personally, I’ve never had a more gratifying time in my academic career than now, and I owe that to the people I work with on a daily basis. Thank you for taking the time to explore our congenital heart program and don’t hesitate to contact us for more information or to arrange a visit.
